Wari Culture

The Wari culture headquarters was Ayacucho, Peru aprox 600-1000. The area has a rich textile history and it’s also where much of our design inspiration comes from today. This piece that we orginally recreated in the mid- nineties, (and are now repeating it as it’s timeless!) was originally a tunic that a noble person wore during ancient times. Imagine if you were bold enough to dress with such pizazz! I’ve been told this original Wari textile lives at the Getty Museum. At any rate, Wilber Quispe can weave the quality of his ancestors, and this design lives on.
