A good month for fundraising

The ArtAndes large and colorful studio space was put to good use last month, two successful fundraisers in one week! The annual 'Fundacion Comunidad' event is not only important financially for the support of the Andean education and nutrition programs, it's a good event to bring some great people together. The desert auction was a new lively addition this year, people bought deserts and then shared them! ( and even resold some pieces) Carol Grams water colors of her Peru experiences not only sold for substantial money, she took four commissions for matching high bids. The bidders were on a recent Peru trip and loved how her brush captured the 'Spirit of the Andes'
A group of 5 from the University of Michigan School of Natural Resources joined the event and made a presentation of their organization and our collaboration. They were in Peru with five of our board members in November and are back now, working in one of our villages on a water project. We are blessed to have them on our team. Follow and like their Facebook page: Sustainability Without Borders (SWB)
The League of Women Voters took over the space the following week, they held an engaging event with state auditor Rebecca Otto as the guest speaker. They were all great guests to have in the studio, and quite of few of them were ArtAndes customers as it turned out, a few going back nearly three decades, wow!
Fundraising Matters. Having said all that, there is so much need in Nepal, and there will be for years to come. I was there in 1984, it's a country I could have stayed in, but Peru came the next year and that's where I landed. I have never forgotten the gentleness of the Nepalese people. There are many NGO'S doing good work there, one in particular is Mercy Corps merccycorp.org
