Vayan a Los Andes!

A reference from Lyndel King/ Curator of the Weisman Art Museum This was a custom designed trip Nov 2018 with an arts focus for folks from the Weisman Museum & The White Bear Center of the Arts. (All trips are custom designed!)
”Melanie gave us a magical experience with wondrous people, places, and art.  She introduced us to the weavers, knitters, and other craftspeople and artists who make beautiful things.  Because we were buying things, for the most part, directly from the makers, you could also feel that you were helping people sustain themselves through their art and that you were also helping preserve a culture— a way of life and its art. Through Melanie, we were allowed into people’s homes in remote places—an experience we could never have had without her.  She knows the land and its people very well and was able to make us feel a part of it in a generous and gracious way.”

Flight to Lima/Lima City Tour • Evening departure
The trip isn’t over yet! Plenty to do in Lima still. It’s the historic City of the Kings and you can’t leave without an in-depth look into this lively and complex place. A few different options will be offered, some folks have been to Peru with ArtAndes already and with that in mind, the Mirabus/ double-decker bus tour from the coast to downtown is a route worth taking. This being Sunday, it will be easy to get around and enjoy the city more on this quieter day of the week. The Limeños love their day off, families are milling around and it’s the best day of the week to be in Lima. An evening dinner celebration is in order before your late night flight home.

The trek is rated as moderate to challenging and covers aprox 32 miles on uneven, rocky terrain. Day 3 is the most challenging with an altitude gain of 3,000 in the span of 3 miles to reach a maximum altitude of 15,000 . Prior hiking experience is recommend as this is not a novice hike.
