The value of color

The value of color

When Pantone picks the color of the year, the design industry seems to clamor to work it in from car colors to bow tie colors. Some colors seem more conducive than others, to move into our visual world with ease. Pantone carries the most weight and has the most influence on color trends, but I see the 2014 color pick 'Radiant Orchid' as being best used in small bits. When used right, it can be a powerful color that demands a response. Recently, this Maximo Laura tapestry was hung as a centerpiece in a Redwing, MN home. There is just the right amount of the 'Radiant Orchid' family here, to cast joy over the room. The addition of the 10ft ArtAndes runner at the foot of the bed, helps hold the weaving nicely too.
