Hand crafted Peruvian rugs are of some of the finest quality weaving in the world. Even the Spanish thought so in 1532 when they invaded Peru. They were a rather barbaric lot, but even they realized the quality of the textiles were unsurpassed by none. The textiles were revered more than the copious amounts of gold they plundered. They were rewarded highly for the 'cloths woven of threads of gold' by the Spanish Kingdom.
